Seki Lynch, 1st Dan

Seki's love of karate began with his father, a 4th dan in Shotokan and four-time world heavyweight champion in the style. Following in his father's footsteps, Seki took up Shotokan at age eight, training under four different senseis. Whilst continuing to train in Shotokan, Seki spent a couple of years experimenting with boxing, Muay Thai, judo and ju-jitsu. At age 16, he won the All England Karate Open in his age category and achieved 1st kyu in Shotokan. Following a three-year hiatus, Seki found DKK and Goju Ryu whilst studying at the University of Westminister.

During my first DKK warm-up, I went dizzy, the room turned purple and I nearly fainted. The rest of the class is a blur, other than sparring - I took so many thigh kicks that I could hardly walk. I was winded repeatedly. After that first class, I was hooked. I was fascinated by how easily I'd been picked apart. How unphased my opponents were at my strikes. These fighters were tough, powerful, and spirited. Everything I aspired to become. Along with an excellent calibre of karateka and a comprehensive fighting system, I found a fantastic community in DKK. It continues to be an honour to train with such dedicated and talented people.

Seki began training at DKK in 2010. He attained shodan-ho in 2022 converting to full shodan in 2023.
