Laila Al-Minyawi, 3rd Dan
Laila had her first taste of karate as a child and returned at university level to a Shotokan club in 2005. She moved to DKK for a greater challenge with an adult class in 2007.
“I wanted to train in a club where my fitness was challenged while learning how to protect myself and those I cared for most. DKK gave me all that and more from the first session. What I did not expect was to also learn lessons in control, inner strength, tenacity, resilience and how to push myself beyond boundaries I thought were possible, year on year. The challenges are endless in so many dimensions and it’s been amazing training with such an incredible group of people over the years. I look forward to more challenges in the years to come.”
Laila was graded to Shodan-ho at Summer School 2013 and achieved the rank of full Shodan a year later at Summer School 2014. At Winter Camp 2016 she completed the 30 Man Kumite test with a powerful performance to gain her Nidan with DKK. In April 2022 Laila was awarded the rank of Sandan
